National Association of Counties - Internship

The National Association of Counties (NACo) has an opening for three interns in its Research Department. Interns provide research and administrative support for the Research Staff in the daily operation of the Research Department as well as in completing major on-going research projects.

Undergraduate students (especially upperclassmen), graduate students, and recent college graduates majoring in public policy, public administration, urban policy, geography, economics, statistics/mathematics, other social sciences or related fields of interest to NACo are encouraged to apply. Our most successful applicants have very good writing skills, communication skills and/or are proficient in handling large databases and constructing maps.

One or more of the internship positions will be for individuals with strong quantitative skills. Experience with at least one of the following software packages (Stata, SAS and ArcGIS) is strongly recommended for these positions.

Preference will be given to students with an interest in local/state government careers.

Hours/Salary:

Interns typically work up to 30 hours per week, depending on the Department’s needs and the intern’s availability. Compensation will depend on degree level.

Application Procedures:

To apply for an internship, please send a resume and a short writing sample (no more than 5 pages) to
research@naco.org.

In your email indicate your availability (approximate number of hours per week available to work and approximate start and end dates).

Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Applications are processed on a rolling basis until all available positions are filled, so early application is encouraged.
